How to Cook Bacon in the Microwave without Paper Towels

There’s no shame in being lazy. And if you’re like me, you don’t want to be getting the frying pan out when you’re cooking for just yourself, especially at the end of a long day. Bacon is one of the most common things that I get a hankering for late in the evening when the kids have gone to sleep.

So, it makes sense to look for an easier way to cook bacon. I mean, it isn’t too hard to whip the fan out and fry it off, but yeah.. if you’re looking to be super lazy, then you can easily cook bacon in the microwave. One thing that people commonly use is paper towels, which help to absorb the fat from the bacon. But, this definitely isn’t a necessity, and you can cook bacon in the microwave without paper towels.

So, here’s how I cook bacon well and easily, without having to worry about it being undercooked or rubbery.

How to Cook Bacon in the Microwave without Paper Towels

  1. Drape your bacon over the edge of a large bowl, or if you have one, a bacon cooker. Don’t get too caught up on what you’re using – if I don’t have a bacon cooker, I use a Pyrex jug.
  2. Make sure to place the jug/baconcooker on a plate to collect up any bacon juices (you don’t want to be wiping up the microwave after).
  3. Microwave the bacon for approximately 90 seconds. This will vary depending on how powerful your microwave is.
  4. Voila! You should now have some delicious bacon; enjoy!

Of course, this is a pretty simple way to cook bacon. I know a lot of people use paper towels too, but for meĀ  this isn’t a great way to cook bacon. I always seem to end up with bit of paper towel attached to my bacon, and of course with this method you don’t need to worry about that!

Another thing that I should say is that when I’m talking about bacon, I’m referring to BRITISH bacon! Although to do cook American bacon strips too, I’ll usually cook that in the oven as I like it super crispy and crunchy.

In terms of taste, to me I actually don’t mind cooking my bacon like this. Many people want their bacon oven cooked and really crispy, but this isn’t a necessity for me. In fact, I might actually prefer my bacon cooked like this as it’s pretty damn tasty.

Overall, I know that this isn’t the most complex thing in the world, but it’s a good way to cook bacon in a rush. Hope this helped!
